Are we safe yet?

Ten years, 3 wars, 3 trillion dollars, 5,885 dead U.S. soldiers, 1,000,000 dead Iraqi men women and children and our government is telling us that another terror attack is more likely than ever before; that they need to take away more of our rights, restrict more of our freedoms and control more of what we do in our daily lives; all in the name of keeping us safe. Liberty for security they say; but they admit we are just as vulnerable as ever before, and that another attack (this one nuclear) is just around the corner. You would think after 10 years of building the world’s most advanced (and oppressive) Police State, we would have something to show for all of the freedoms we have given up in the name of security; only to find that we are not only still vulnerable to attack, but even more so they say. The police have become the military and the military have become the police, yet none of us are safe yet. It kind of makes me wonder, is it really the “terrorists” who hate our freedoms, or is it the government? If our “freedoms” are why the terrorists hate us so much then why is the government taking away the very thing that makes us better than them? And then we find out that we are supporting Al-Qaeda in Libya and fighting them in Afghanistan; and that there are in reality more Hell’s Angels in America then there are Al-Qaeda all over the world. I can only ponder what another ten years and even more of our liberties surrendered will bring us. If we’re still not safe by then, do you think our government will give us back the freedoms they took from to us to “protect” us? Oh wait. That question was already answered; it’s called North Korea, China, the former U.S.S.R. and Cuba.
